Steven Nerayoff is a former Ethereum adviser who has filed a suit against the U.S. Government, asking for $9.6 Billion.
Nerayoff claims The amount above is the compensation he claims he deserves for his unfounded complaints and treatment harshly by federal agents between 2019 and 2023.
Nerayoff is the person who previously accused Ethereum’s co-founder of fraud. Vitalik Buterin. took legal action through a Federal Tort Claims Act lawsuit (FTCA), citing wrongful acts in a 2019 extortion accusation against him.
The U.S. Government accused former Ethereum Advisor, Michael Nerayoff of being part of an extortion scam between 2019 and 2023. These charges stemmed from allegations that Nerayoff threatened to destroy an Ethereum company without it meeting his demand for millions of dollar in cryptocurrency. Ethereum Tokens and Cash
A report from FOX Business Journalist Eleanor TerrettIn the suit, it is alleged that federal agents prosecuted Nerayoff for extortion charges despite the fact they were aware of their lack of merit. In addition, the suit alleges that these federal agents used harassment, intimidation and fabricated evidence in order to bring extortion cases.
Nerayoff’s legal representative has stated that there were significant repercussions to his business and reputation, which warranted legal action.
