Dencun is the first to follow last year’s Shapella upgrade. First, it will be deployed on the Goerli testing network. After that, if the testnets are not experiencing any major problems, they will move on to Sepolia or Holesky. After Dencun runs smoothly on the three testnets scheduled activation of mainnet.
Dencun is the last stop for Goerli upgrade. Once it is activated on the mainnet, both client and EF teams will cease to support the Goerli Testnet. See this for more information. previous announcement.
Upgrade Specification
Dencun upgrade The changes combine both Ethereum’s execution and consensus layers. You can find the full list of changes in EIP-7569. To give you a quick reference, the following are their names:
Deneb
The Ethereum Consensus Layer can be modified using complete python specs. deneb folder The cheapest way to buy a car is by using the ethereum/consensus-specs repository.
Cancun
The EIPs that are linked above provide the full specifications on changes to Ethereum’s Execution Layer.
Also, a Python specification is being implemented for these in the ethereum/execution-specs repository.
Deneb also requires that Engine API be modified to allow communication between consensus and execution nodes. These are described in the cancun.md file The cheapest way to buy a car is by using the ethereum/execution-apis repository.
Client Releases
These client versions support Dencun Goerli. Support for other testnets, as well as the mainnet, will be added in future versions. When these versions are released, we will make another announcement here.
Validators should consider the risks involved in running a majority-client on the execution (EL) layer or the consensus (CL) layer when choosing the client to run. These risks and the consequences they have can be explained. here. You can find an estimate of the current EL/CL client distribution, as well as guides on how to switch from one client type to another. here.
Goerli releases for consensus layer
Note:When running a validator both the Consensus layer Beacon Node as well as Validator Client need to be updated.
Goerli Releases for the Execution Layer
Note:While Reth supports Dencun the client still awaits a full audit. Not recommended for production. See the Reth README Click here for more context.
Dencun Bug Bounty
Dencun bug bounty winners for vulnerabilities that fall within the scope of the project will get a 2x multiplier up until two weeks before mainnet launch. upgrade It is planned to happen. The value of critical bugs has risen to up to $500,000. See also bug bounty program for more details.
The FAQ
Do I have to do anything as an Ethereum user or Ether owner?
Short answer: No.
If you have a hardware or digital wallet (or exchange), you don’t need to do anything, unless the exchange or wallet provider tells you otherwise.
If you run your own Ethereum node, please see the next question.
As a nonstaking Goerli Node operator: What am I required to do?
