Hello everyone! Hello everyone! My name is Mihajlo and I have been working on my dissertation for the last six months. Next Billion FellowshipI’ve worked to bring Web3 benefits to the World Scouting Movement.
Growing up in Serbia, I witnessed first-hand how wars and economic sanctions can affect young people. The lack of positive role models and supportive peers was a major problem. It’s very easy for young people to get involved in criminal activities or gangs when they are living in such an environment. The scouting program and technology helped me avoid going down a wrong path.
In 1996 I looked for “Izviđači” (Serbian for ‘scout’) on Yahoo, and stumbled upon one of the first scouting groups in the world to have its own website. The website was created by one of the members as part of a university assignment earlier in the year. My journey began when I found that website. Fast-forward through 27 years of adventure, learning, volunteering, and professional engagement – and now I work Then, you can get the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)A vibrant community of more than 57 millions Scouts from over 170 National Scout Organizations.
A Decentralised Movement
Each chapter brings its own uniqueness to the Scouting movement. own Unique skills and goals are brought to a grassroots group that focuses on learning, personal development, and mutual respect. The Scouts adhere to a framework and principles that are agreed upon by the World Organization. However, they have their own autonomy when it comes to implementing projects and initiatives.
Scouting believes that education can make the world a more peaceful place. Technology is a great tool to help with this. Since 1957, Scouts from around the globe have taken part in the “Jamboree on the air” – a remote gathering of scouts working on the skills of amateur radio operation. Recently, scouts from around the globe have joined “Jamboree on the Internet” – the next The technology facilitates global scouting.
During my time at WOSM I have seen the scouting community experiment with early internet and helped them make the transition to Web 2.0. The scouts are now able to use a global online presence to collaborate and participate in global initiatives, track local chapters, and communicate with global movements. I’m excited to announce that the time has come for scouts worldwide to embrace technology. upgrade Web 3.0:
My Next Billion Fellowship
First piece of my work I created educational content about Web3 basics for scouts. This included what a blockchain was, how to use it, and the importance encryption has in keeping safe online. I presented two sessions at the “Jamboree on the Internet”. proof Encourage attendees to participate in the event to mint the first-ever World Scouting NFT badge using POAP.
We see the digitization of badges as a clear use-case, and will work to create new badges based on blockchain for scouts to collect and unlock. Web3 offers a lot more innovation potential to the scouting community. New voting and governance mechanisms could help scouts around the world coordinate more effectively on large initiatives. Millions of young people could benefit from a world scouting Web3 curriculum that teaches them how to keep and use their digital assets in a safe manner. A world-scouting wallet would guide and reward Scouts as they learn, and allow local Chapters to create their own and export them. own A global community can earn badges and challenges.
The Scout’s Passport
The world of Web 3.0, which I began by exploring the potential of NFTs (non-traditional tokens) and digital badges is a vast territory. And I wanted to chart the right path for Scouting’s long-term goals. A Scout’s Badges are tokens that represent personal growth and achievements. They can be carried by a scout. The badges are a way to define and support a scout’s identity, as they act as a “soul-bound” token that is attached to their journey in life and scouting. The digital badges are an important part of this picture, but we also need a physical badge. Identity system It is compatible to digital badges, coins, and any other items that Scouts will need in future.
We are currently preparing to build World Scouting Web3’s first foundational layer: the Scout’s Passport. A Scout’s passport, as an identity system, would be compatible with Web3 systems of all kinds and allow the scouting movements to have an identification layer for badges tokens signatures messages etc. A Web3-enabled scout’s identity, in particular, would enable a more robust social recovery, allowing for scouts to create DAO scouting group, explore new methods of governance and crowdfunding, and unlock the endless possibilities of NFTs or digital badges. A special Scout wallet module will allow us to design user flows and account security for youth, a demographic that is often overlooked in consumer wallet software.
We are starting from scratch, as with all initiatives within the Scouting movement. The development of a scout passport will be supported by a community-based support system, and contributions from many scouts who are already involved with Web3. Scouts wallets will be open.sourceAnyone can contribute and benefit from our identity platform. We plan to release the MVP version of the World Scouting Wallet in time for World Scouting Day. World Scout Jamboree being held in South Korea this AugustThis event will bring 45,000 Scouts from around the world together.
Moving Forward
While I continue my exciting journey, i’m working to implement a technical frame work for the initial World Scouting Educational Initiatives. Scouts for Sustainable Development Goals Badges that are based on verified credentials will be stored within the Scout’s wallet. I believe that technology can be a powerful tool for creating an empowered community. With this framework, we can begin to build a better future for Scouts around the world.
I am excited to share with you my experiences and progress, and I hope that I can inspire others to explore blockchain and Web3 technologies within their own businesses. own communities. We’ll see where this journey takes us.
